This folder should contain six sets of icons, a ResEdit document and this file. The icons contained within have been pasted onto folders, allowing simple copying and pasting of icons in the ‘Get Info…’ dialogue.
What’s in the folders?
Four of the folders contain folder icons based around one of the preliminary ‘Copland’ looks — the isometric blue, shadowed folders. Some of these were done using Folder Icon Maker, using a custom resource file. This file is included here. Others were done manually in ResEdit.
Application Folders: Folders for a range of applications, both commercial and shareware, including a few games. Folders marked with an asterisk* have more icons inside them.
Document Folders: Need somewhere to keep a particular type of document? Here’s somewhere to put them.
MacFormat CD Icons: These folders are based on those used on the CD-ROM which comes with the UK magazine MacFormat. I've kept the names the folders on the disk have, but they’re more widely applicable. Again, folders marked with an asterisk* have more icons inside them.
Misc Folders: Odds and sods, bits and bats.
The other three folders conatain icons for storage devices and the Macintosh itself.
Floppy icons: Lots of icons for cheering up those dull floppy disks.
Drive icons: A few colourful versions of the Copland hard drive icon.
Mac Icons: Some cheery Macintoshi.
But some of them won’t paste properly!
There seems to be a problem pasting some icons with pale colours at the edges. It seems to be something to do with the way the system devises the mask. The only way I know of fixing it is to open the offending icon in ResEdit and edit the mask manually before rebuilding the desktop.
So what’s it going to cost?
Nowt, as they say round here. But if you happen to be in the Edinburgh area, a pint or two (in the Holyrood Tavern) always goes down well with me. Otherwise support a small independent brewery or microbrewery on my behalf.
